It May Be a Life, But It Ain’t No Person!

By Douglas E. Sparkes

In July 2004, John Kerry publicly announced on ABC when life begins.* However, Kerry is uncertain about when life becomes a person. His words are strange and contradictory, "a human being is first formed and created, and that's when life begins…but that’s not a person yet…"

What authority does John Kerry speak from? Who is he to determine when life begins and when it “transforms” into a human person?

The problem with Kerry as well as the Supreme Court of the United States is that they have all tried to usurp the authority of God with absurd logic.  Since they despise the truth they attempt to dismiss it.

Supreme Court: Life does not begin at conception. It begins at birth. Therefore abortion is not murder and is tolerable until the “thing” is born.

Reality & Science: Life begins at conception.

John Kerry: Oops! Okay so life begins at conception but it’s not a person until it’s born.

The well formed conscience voter: If it’s not a person then what is it?  If it must evolve into a person when and how does this happen?  Where is the evidence for any of your beliefs?

If the fetus must “evolve” into personhood it must have a point or moment in it’s “evolution” where it is no longer a fetus…I assume, since Kerry did not clarify his position, that for Kerry, the life becomes a person at birth. Therefore, something magical or even supernatural must occur at birth, but if so what and where is the evidence?

Kerry is trying to walk the fence on abortion. He wants women to have the right to murder the life within their bodies, but still feel good about himself because he is “personally” against it.

Kerry continues to disturb me with his final words, “…but that's not a person yet, and it’s certainly not what somebody in my judgment, ought to have the government of the United States intervening in.”

The unborn are the most innocent of the innocents. They are helpless and utterly dependent on their mothers for survival. Kerry is saying, whether he realizes this or not, that defending those who can not help themselves is not the responsibility of the United States government!

Therefore, if Kerry is elected, abortion will go unchallenged. If the rights of the unborn continue to be ignored then the dignity of the human being will be vastly diminished to the point where the rights of fully “evolved US citizens” will be challenged and ignored as well. We’re seeing this already as arguments for euthanasia and other so called mercy killings gain support.

The future of our nation passes through us to our children. Do we really want a man who is not concerned about defending the rights of our most precious citizens leading us as President?

*Quote from July 23rd 2004 as reported by Catholics for Kerry website:

Kerry recently came under fire from some Catholic leaders who suggested that pro-choice politicians should be denied Communion. And on the campaign trail, the Massachusetts senator has emphasized his personal opposition to abortion, which he says stems from his Catholic faith. Earlier this month, he told an Iowa newspaper that he believed life began at conception.

Thursday, Jennings pressed Kerry about whether he then believed that early-term abortions were murder.

Kerry said Thursday that he personally believed that, in the fertilization process, "a human being is first formed and created, and that's when life begins."

"There's a transformation. There's an evolution. Within weeks, you look and see the development of it, but that's not a person yet, and it's certainly not what somebody, in my judgment, ought to have the government of the United States intervening in."
